Lisa runs a lively daycare centre from her home, caring for children aged one to fifteen. As her daycare community expanded, she needed a dedicated space where older children could relax, play, and enjoy their own environment. We worked closely with Lisa to design a beautifully crafted garden room that fits snugly into an irregular corner of her garden. The result is a playful and practical sanctuary complete with entertainment zones, built-in seating, a drinks area, and a fully plumbed washroom. All of it brought to life with premium, eco conscious materials.

Lisa needed extra room to support the older children in her daycare. With the house already filled with younger ones, it was time to create a separate space tailored for socialising, gaming, and age-appropriate activities. The available garden space was an unusual shape, defined by boundary walls, which meant a custom design was essential. Lisa also wanted practical features including a washroom, storage, and open space for games and screens
We designed a custom 38m² garden room that followed the shape of the boundary walls and made the most of every inch of available space. Inside, we created zones for different activities including a wall for screens and game consoles, a central area with enough room for a pool table, and built in bench seating around the perimeter to encourage group interaction.
We added two key features for functionality and comfort. The first was a drinks bar and second sink with worktop space, perfect for quick refreshments and supervised independence. The second was a partitioned washroom that includes a shower, toilet, and sink, complete with full drainage and successful approval through Yorkshire Water’s S106 application process.
The final result is a bold, practical and playful space designed to support children as they grow. The exterior is striking and sustainable, with low maintenance shou sugi ban cladding on the front and black corrugated boards on the sides and rear. White double glazed French doors open into a bright and durable interior, finished with smooth plastered walls and commercial grade laminate flooring. The building is topped with a single piece EPDM rubber roof made from recycled materials, offering excellent durability and water resistance.
To support the eco vision of the project, the foundation was installed using ground screws. This method avoids concrete and offers a quicker, cleaner, and more environmentally friendly solution.
This garden room is more than a play space. It’s a thoughtfully designed social hub where older children can relax, connect, and enjoy independent activities in a safe and stylish setting. From the dramatic texture of the charred timber cladding to the bright and functional interior, every detail has been created with purpose. Whether it’s a game of pool, sharing a drink at the bar, or diving into a console game with friends, this room brings energy and joy to Lisa’s thriving daycare environment.

This was the only company who gave us full peace of mind from preparing the base to the actual Garden Building, all included in price.

The design blends perfectly with the garden. It’s become our go-to spot to relax and hang out with family. We absolutely love it! It’s everything we dreamed of, and more.
