Tim’s stylish garden gym with eco green roof
Tim envisioned a high-performance, luxury garden room gym that matched his outdoor kitchen and pergola. We delivered a bold, black-interior space with matching bi-fold doors, timber cladding, and an eco-friendly green roof — blending strength, style and sustainability in one seamless build.
The initial challenge
Tim was looking for a modern, stand-out home gym that wouldn’t feel like an add-on. It needed to be durable and high-spec, but also had to complement his existing outdoor entertaining area — including a timber pergola and outdoor kitchen. Visual alignment, clean design, and sustainability were key, as was the desire for a well-ventilated, comfortable training space usable year-round.
Our approach
The build began with a robust ground screw foundation test and installation, followed by our premium PU Timber SIP Kit for exceptional thermal performance. The exterior was finished in a mix of black galvanised steel cladding and horizontal timber larch to match Tim’s garden features. The team installed matching black bi-fold doors on both the house and garden room to create visual flow and symmetry. Inside, the space was painted black with integrated LED strip lighting, flush-mounted ceiling lights, and a Bluetooth speaker system for immersive workouts. A sedum eco green roof was added - not just for sustainability and insulation, but to create a soft visual link with the surrounding trees and natural garden elements.
The finished room
The completed space delivers on every front: performance, comfort, design and sustainability. The black sprung gym flooring, ambient lighting and ventilation make it ideal for workouts in every season. The eco green roof reduces heat absorption while blending beautifully with the surrounding greenery, giving the structure a low-profile, nature-friendly finish. The rich mix of materials — timber, steel, glass — combined with matching details across the property, brings together a cohesive, modern garden experience that elevates the entire outdoor space.
