Mary’s Eco-Conscious Garden Retreat
Mary chose My Eco Garden Room for its strong focus on sustainability. She wanted a garden room that looked beautiful and performed efficiently, without compromising on environmental values. This bespoke space combines natural materials like Shou Sugi Ban timber, cork flooring and a recycled rubber roof to create a low-impact, all-season retreat that feels both refined and responsible.
The initial challenge
Mary wanted a garden room that aligned with her eco values while still feeling warm and stylish. The space needed to offer year-round comfort using low-maintenance, sustainable materials, with careful attention to both performance and aesthetics.
Our approach
We used a galvanised steel framework for structural strength and reduced waste, along with 150mm of high-performance insulation for energy efficiency.
The exterior features Shou Sugi Ban timber cladding for natural durability, paired with black corrugated steel on the rear elevation. A recycled EPDM rubber roof completed the watertight, eco-friendly envelope.
Inside, we installed renewable cork flooring, marine plywood walls, and a tongue and groove timber ceiling to create a warm, breathable interior. Comfort is maintained with a 2kW heater, humidistat-controlled fan, and energy-efficient glazing.
The finished room
The finished space is a calm, low-impact retreat designed to support daily life with minimal environmental footprint. Mary’s garden room is now a place for relaxation, creativity or quiet focus, combining beauty with purpose in every detail.
